This was tough SEO week. I’ve improved my second blog’s ranking in Google by writing unique content. The reason was bad ranking in the SERP, much lower than top 100.
Firstly I couldn’t realize what I did wrong. I wrote many pages containing lots of target keywords. I optimized content for search engines and I got some dofollow links with good anchors. But nothing happened. The reason is duplicated content.
In fact, content is unique, but is based on existing articles. I made necessary corrections and put low competitive keywords. But now I see that it’s not enough.
I’ve stopped bothering about keywords and created few unique pages. And I succeeded. Unique content brings traffic. Also some low competitive keywords appeared in the SERP in top 50. Now I’m following the 2:1 writing scheme. Two posts with unique niche content per one rewritten post with low competitive keywords. It works just fine, but I’m going to switch to the 1:1 scheme soon. Of course, I will inform you about results.

I completely agree that unique content is a key. On my www.worldcup2010blog.com blog I made a couple posts about African infrastructure and after 3-6 days google included me in top 20. Keyword “african infrastructure overhaul” put me on the first place and keyword “african infrastructure” put me on the 75th place, but some days before I was not in the top 100 with “african infrastructure” and with “african infrastructure overhaul” I was on the 13 place. So, it’s result of the unique content.

Hey nice blog,I came here from mybloglog. I think also the same. Unique content will be very good for search engine. But in developing my blog (go4advertise.com) I don’t have any problem with rewriting articles, as long as the article you are editing is not extensively present in the internet, So, before I rewrite articles, I often do a google search also.
