What I’ve learnt so far:

Wordpress plugins

1. Dagon design sitemap generator plugin is great feature for blogs. It generates sitemap as a separate page. You can find pages and posts very quickly. It also helps search engines to index your blog, because all pages are accessible from the sitemap page. But don’t use “sitemap” url/slug, if Google sitemap plugin is installed. It doesn’t work.
2. Activate Akismet plugin as soon as possible. It has already caught spam comments.

Keyword analysis

1. Wordtracker is one of the keyword analysis tools that helps you to develop a list of keywords. Annual subscription is quite expensive. That’s why I have subscribed to free trial version. I like Wordtracker very much. You can find very good keywords in about half an hour. Try it.

What I’ve learnt so far:

Search engines

1. Googlebot doesn’t crawl new websites frequently. One week has passed from last visit. I need more incoming links and content.
2. Sitemap doesn’t reduce time between Googlebot visits.
3. MSN crawler is faster than Yahoo crawler I have submitted my blog to MSN later than to Yahoo.
4. Google can change index without crawling blog. Some pages are missing from index.

Social networks, bookmarking, catalogs

1. Delicious is useless unless you build your own network. No visits.
2. Digg can be effectively used for link building.
3. Blogcatalog should be used by bloggers.

Other

1. Lack of free keyword tools.
